After splitting up with Leon, Ada comes upon Sherry and picks up a golden pendant the girl loses while running away. Further into the sewers, Ada reluctantly teams up with Leon again, after he insists on his duty to protect her.

They encounter a middle-aged woman who fires at Ada, but Leon dives between them and takes a bullet himself. Ada ignores the unconscious Leon and follows the woman, who reveals herself to be Sherry's mother Annette and the wife of William Birkin, the Umbrella scientist who created the G-virus.

In an attempt to protect his life's work from special agents sent by the Umbrella headquarters, he injected himself with the virus, which turned him into the malformed creature that is now chasing Sherry. A fight ensues, during which Annette is thrown over a railing. Meanwhile, Claire is reunited with Sherry and discovers that the mutated Birkin has implanted his daughter with an embryo to produce offspring.

Leon, Ada, Claire and Sherry advance through an abandoned factory connected to Umbrella's secret underground research facility. The gameplay is nice and tight and thank goodness they decided to ditch those tank controls. Leon and Claire and the others control great and the game does a great job in making you feel like the odds are stacked against you.

There are different difficulty levels you can play which alter things such as the amount of ammo. You do have to manage your items, but this is part of the survival horror aspect of it all.

Both the campaigns play slightly differently and I like that. As well as the campaigns, you have these other shorter stories where you get to play as other characters and try and get a high score. This is one of those rare games that plays every bit as good as it looks. The only bad thing I can say about the game is that I really wish they had a new game plus mode.

Leon confronts Ada as the lab's self-destruct protocol begins. Annette shoots Ada before succumbing to her injuries. As Ada falls off the bridge; Leon catches her, letting the virus sample fall into the abyss. Leon loses his grip and Ada falls. As Leon attempts to escape the lab, he is ambushed by the Tyrant and engages it in a final battle. Ada, having survived the fall, tosses a rocket launcher to him, which Leon uses to finally destroy the Tyrant.

Leon boards the evacuation train, discovering Claire and Sherry already aboard. Ending Claire, Leon and Sherry are attacked by William, who has mutated again. Lighting turned off completely, for comparison, but that's also nitpicky, I guess. Keep performance reviews as awesome as this one! The ammo rationing killed it for me, it just sucked the fun right out of it. You spend pretty much the whole game nearly out of ammo and running away from everything.
